Your AdSense and AdMob earnings in your local currency, explained
Why the number in your bank account rarely matches the number in your dashboard — and how to keep track of both.
Most publishers outside the US see two currencies: the one Google reports in, and the one they actually spend. Here’s how they relate.
Reporting currency vs payment currency
- Reporting currency is the currency your AdSense or AdMob reports use for estimated earnings.
- Payment currency is the currency Google pays you in, which depends on your payment country and method.
If the two differ, Google converts your balance when it issues the payment, using the exchange rate at that time. Check the Payments section of your account for the currencies that apply to you.
Why your payout differs from the estimate
- Finalisation: estimated earnings are adjusted when the month is finalised.
- Exchange rates move between the day you earned the money and the day it’s paid.
- Your bank may convert again or charge fees, especially for international wire transfers.
Payment thresholds in local currency
Google’s payment threshold is set in your account currency (for example US$100 or a local equivalent). Your balance has to reach it before a payment is issued — see when does AdSense pay?
Tracking earnings in the currency you spend
For a day-to-day view, convert your earnings at current exchange rates so you know roughly what they’re worth at home. For bookkeeping, record the amount that actually arrives in your bank. Monetrix can switch your whole AdMob, AdSense and YouTube dashboard to any of 25 currencies — including EUR, GBP, INR, JPY, BRL, IDR and more — and lets you log the payouts you receive. Find your country’s page, with local pricing, on Monetrix around the world.
